TADB increases productivity in agriculture, facilitates the implementation of projects and shapes the collection and sale of agricultural products as outlined by Hon. Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, Minister of the Ministry of Finance and Planning in the presentation of the ministry’s budget 8/6/2023, Parliament, Dodoma.
In the presentation Dr. Mwigulu classified some of the things facilitated by TADB for the year of 2022 as follows:
- Until December 2022, TZS 33.22 billion were provided through the direct lending system for projects aimed at increasing productivity in production.
- TZS 44.2 billions were loaned to small farmers for projects to prevent crop loss, of which TZS. 35.9 billion were provided through the direct lending system and TZS 8.3 billion through the Smallholder Credit Guarantee Scheme (SCGS).
- In addition, TZS 97.7 billion were loaned to small farmers for the implementation of projects to facilitate access to produce markets where TZS 81.3 billion were provided through the direct lending system and TZS 16.4 billion was released through the Smallholder Credit Guarantee Scheme (SCGS).
Also, in order to shape investment in the agri-sector, the bank succeeded in persuading one (1) commercial bank to join the Smallholder Credit Guarantee Scheme (SCGS).
